What We Do

StreetLife Communities (SLC) engages in street outreach to provide essential medical care, survival resources, and hope to Milwaukee’s unhoused community.

Homelessness is not simply living without shelter, it’s disconnection from the support and relationships that provide security and meaning to our lives. It’s a physical, emotional, and spiritual predicament that creates debilitating suffering and trauma.

Our mission is simple:

As created equals, we work to reduce harm and restore hope by providing essential resources to our Milwaukee neighbors living on the streets.

In that spirit, we provide unhoused people with essential resources including food, water, and hygiene products. We also offer seasonally appropriate clothing and gear to protect them from the elements.

Volunteer Powered

Our work is powered by a network of well over 100 volunteers and one part-time Outreach Coordinator. We are proof that every contribution — no matter how large or small — makes a meaningful difference.

Three times every week, our street outreach team, which includes medical professionals, medical students, and mentors, go out in pairs to connect with underserved people.

Supporting the outreach team are dozens of volunteers ensuring that there are resources and supplies to meet client needs. Whether it’s making sandwiches, baking cookies, packing lunches, sourcing medical supplies, donating clothing, or whatever else may be needed, we count on these dedicated volunteers to keep the outreach team well-stocked.

Our outreach team shows up consistently every week, no matter the circumstances. In a world of uncertainty and suffering, the people we serve know we can be counted on to provide needed resources and compassionate presence.

An Invitation

We invite YOU to be part of what we do. There’s room for everyone in our community, and we encourage you to get involved

Success

So many positive stories

StreetLife helps every person that is in need and works tirelessly to help the community. I would not be where I am in life without StreetLife.  They honestly change lives for the good and they are desperately needed in Milwaukee for years to come.

Living in my car

A friend of mine put me in touch with Pastor Max outreach. They directed me to 211. Then he and his people met me, gave me several big bottles of water, a couple bags of sandwiches, and a sleeping bag.

With what they gave me I was able to manage a couple of more nights, while I was waiting to get into the Hope House.  I had a court date for disability pending.

In housing after two years

I was under the 29th & Dakota Bridge for two years and two months. Now I’m in housing tonight! I cleaned all day today under the bridge. Even swept it down with a push broom. Thanks for the socks, food, radio, and trash bags for today’s cleaning!!!!
